SNL Explains the Nudity in Game of Thrones

Shawn writes:

Rebecca and I totally agree with this.  Don’t get us wrong, we think a well placed sex scene can help move a plot along but anymore these scenes are so blatant in shows they’re as insulting as gratuitous 3D scenes in 3D movies.

For example, in the latest season of Dexter when he attends a class reunion and an old classmate decides to give him a blowjob because Dexter helped her with her homework 20 years prior.  Seriously?  WTF was that?  Could the story not exist without that scene?  Was it necessary in any way?  Nope.

The same for the recent series Homeland.  In the first episode we see Morena Baccarin riding Diego Klattenhoff and of course Morena’s naked.  Was it necessary for her to be naked in order to see two people making love for 5 seconds?  Was it integral to the plot?  Nope.

On the flip, in episode two of Homeland we see a woman standing naked before another woman as she’s interviewed for a position (ahem) in a Sheik’s harem.  This nude scene was necessary as it quickly illustrated what type of person the Sheik was, thus integral to the plot.

However, 95% of the sex/nude scenes in Game of Thrones are about as ridiculous as those in True Blood and have actually turned us off to the show.  It’s like someone sat us down for an hour to watch his preference in porn.  It insults our intelligence.

Rebecca and I agree that the only sex scene necessary in Game of Thrones was the one between Jaime and Cersei Lannister.  What?!?!  Aren’t they brother and sister?  What kind of fucked up… oooooohhhhhh.  Those are some really bad dudes.

And the point was made.  All the other scenes of sex and nudity are just noise.
